The New International Guest House in Hong Kong, Kowloon, Tsim Sha Tsui, is located inside the world famous “Chunking Mansions” building. It offers very clean & modern rooms in a good location just near the Star Ferry pier to Hong Kong Island, MTR (subway) and KCR east train station to Shenzhen (China) nearby. The friendly owner is very helpful and provides a lot of free information about the best and most interesting places to visit in Hong Kong. Don’t forget to watch the “Symphony of Lights” each night at 8PM at the water front near the Star Ferry. That’s a breath-taking light- and laser-show on both sides of the harbour. Once there, also consider a trip to nearby Macau. It’s really worth it, even if you are not interested in gambeling. Just take the New World First Ferry from the passenger terminal behind Harbour City next to the Star Ferry pier.

The “Backpackers Travellers Inn” in Kuala Lumpur is the cheapest hostel to stay in the capital city of Malaysia. It is well known amongst world travellers who are travelling on a budget for providing the best value for money. The place is located in the heart of Chinatown, only 5 minutes walk from the train station (LRT Pasar Seni, one station from KL Sentral railway station) and also only a 5 minute walk from the main bus center (Puduraya). Besides, it is easy to get all kinds of food nearby. There is a good, clean, brand new chinese restaurant just next door with excellent cheap meals. Within less than 5 minutes walking distance there is also a KFC and 3 McDonalds restaurants as well as a Thai and 2 Indian restaurants. The UO Supermarket just 3 minutes away provides you with everything you need, including cheap clothes, household and electrical items (upstairs). The 3 dorm rooms (1 is a girls dorm) have 4 bunk beds each for 8 people. Unfortunately those beds aren’t the best quality and shake a lot, so be prepared for some earthquake-like movements during the night. Computers with Internet are available near the reception, WiFi is available, but is not free (RM5 per day, code changes daily). They have an in-house travel agency if you should be interested in seightseeing tours in Kuala Lumpur, to Taman Negara or other popular destinations in Malaysia. Even though the place is very basic, the Chinese owner takes his responsibility serious, checking the dormitory rooms every night to make sure everything is alright. The aircons will be turned on at 9pm. There is a rooftop bar (with good music and TV) that serves cool beers and drinks at night. In the morning you can get cheap breakfasts and fried rice for lunch here from about 7am until 2pm. The malaysian lady is very nice. The hostel is always very busy and constantly booked out, so it is highly recommended to book your bed ahead before you get to Kuala Lumpur. Weekly rates and student discounts are available on request, giving you a 10% discount.
